D-Max Tune Perth

We tune a range of Isuzu D-Max models running the 3.0L 4JJ1 and 4JJ3 turbo-diesel engines. Compatibility can vary by year, ECU and configuration. Send us your year, model and engine and we can confirm the tuning options available for your D-Max.

Our Isuzu D-Max dyno tunes start from $1,600 including GST. Additional upgrades are priced separately. Exhaust systems start from $2,000, turbo upgrades from $3,000 and injector upgrades from $4,500.

The time required depends on the D-Max model, ECU, vehicle condition and any supporting upgrades being completed. Our process can include diagnostics, baseline dyno testing, ECU calibration and final testing. We’ll confirm the expected workshop time when you book in.

Actual gains depend on the engine, condition and modifications. One 4JJ3 D-Max we tuned increased from 135 hp to 158 hp at the wheels. Our Stage 1 packages generally target approximately 10-15% more power, with higher-output packages available where supporting hardware allows.

Torque gains vary between vehicles and setups. One 4JJ3 D-Max we tuned increased from 419 Nm to 541 Nm. Peak torque also moved from 1860 rpm to 1600 rpm, giving the vehicle stronger low-down performance for towing and beach driving.

A custom D-Max tune can improve low and mid-range torque, throttle response and power delivery under load. We focus heavily on usable torque for D-Max owners towing caravans, trailers, boats and heavy work loads.

The 4JJ1 is the 3.0L turbo-diesel found in earlier D-Max generations. The newer 4JJ3-TCX powers current-generation 3.0L D-Max models. Both engines can respond well to tuning, but their ECU strategies and calibration requirements differ.

Yes. We tune the 3.0L 4JJ3-TCX found in current-generation Isuzu D-Max models. The 4JJ3 uses a torque-based ECU strategy, so we calibrate relevant torque, boost and driver demand parameters around the complete vehicle.

Yes. D-Max tuning is completed using our in-house dyno at our Welshpool workshop. We complete baseline testing, calibrate the vehicle and carry out final testing to verify the result.

Yes. We tailor D-Max tuning around the vehicle and its supporting modifications. Tyres, exhausts, snorkels, airboxes, turbos and injectors can all affect the required calibration, so we consider the complete rig before tuning.

No. A tuning chip generally alters signals between the ECU and engine systems. ECU remapping changes the calibration within the ECU itself. We use custom ECU calibration because it gives us greater control over how the engine delivers torque and power.

No. Injector upgrades are generally considered when a higher-output build requires more fuel delivery. A standard D-Max receiving a custom dyno tune does not automatically need high-flow injectors. We recommend them only when the complete setup requires them.

Not every D-Max needs an exhaust upgrade before tuning. A performance exhaust can support improved flow and higher-output setups. We assess your engine, intended use and performance goals before recommending supporting hardware.

Fuel use depends heavily on how the vehicle is driven after tuning. Normal driving may deliver similar or improved economy in some situations. Regularly using the additional power and torque can increase fuel consumption.

An ECU remap can affect manufacturer warranty coverage on a D-Max still under new-car warranty. We recommend discussing your vehicle, modifications and warranty situation with our team before making changes.
